On May 18, 2013 Dozens of active and alumnus brothers of Gamma Xi came together at Club Auto Sport in San Jose to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Gamma Xi’s founding.
Gamma Xi John Davis-owned Club Auto Sport features a resort-caliber patio that served as the setting for dinner, drinks and socializing, with alumni board president Micah Harrel grilling up some delicious sausages and tri-tip. Guests were treated to tours of the facility’s amazing collections of antique weapons and classic, custom and exotic cars.
Lots of active brothers attended, looking like quite the badass brotherhood with many sporting stylish polo shirts featuring the Theta Chi coat of arms. They filled us old guys in on what’s up with the chapter and school in general, and seemed to enjoy hearing stories about the good old days. Brother Tom Brisbois from the early 70’s regaled the crowd with the tale of how the recently renovated Boom Boom Room (pics coming soon!) got its name.
Chapter president Ralphie Vasquez and alumni relations chair Zack Zeller gave a brief presentation about the state of the chapter. The house is experiencing a serious resurgence, with large pledge classes boosting the chapter to 65 brothers, with over half living in. They’ve been taking it upon themselves to take fantastic care of the house, including some upgrades including hardwood floors upstairs, new tile in the Boom Boom Room and fresh paint inside and out. (More on all that later…)
Attendees had a good time and are looking forward to SJSU homecoming on October 26.
