Thomas Hugh Smith (aka “TS”) 69-71

After graduating from San Jose State with a business major and a minor in aeronautical operations, I graduated from naval pilot training and completed two cruises aboard the USS Oriskany with my pledge marshall Charlie Derego. We were in the same squadron and shared a room smaller than any room at Theta Chi. I joined Continental Airlines in 1977 and currently fly the B777. Retired from the naval reserves in 1994.

In 1971 I married my college sweetheart Karen, a San Jose State Delta Gamma, and have been happy ever since. I live in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Greg with wife Holly and boys Gavin (3 years old, with mom) and Bryce (4 years old, up front).

Greg lives in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose with his lovely wife Holly and two boys — Bryce born in February 2004 and Gavin April of 2005.

He works for Solace Systems, a Canadian company that makes high-end “content routers” and has an office here in Palo Alto. He does marketing communications — writing, design, web, etc.

He’s in touch with a whole bunch of Theta Chi’s from the early, mid and even late 90s, especially of late thanks to an aggressive case of Facebookitis. If you know Greg, check him out and friend up.

He has season tickets for Spartan football this year, and plans on tailgating every game he can manage, even the Stanford game at Stanford on September 20 and especially homecoming on October 11.
