When the Gamma Xi chapter house was built in 1962, the chapter commissioned an artist to create a three-dimensional copy of the Theta Chi coat of arms. It was a unique piece, proudly installed over the mantle as the centerpiece of the chapter’s formal living room. In 1991 the alumni board created a brass version of the impressive piece for the front of the house. They worked with a local foundry to have a mold created, and proceeded to create two casts that stood 3 feet tall and weighed in at nearly 70 pounds. One was mounted on the front of Gamma Xi, and the other was given to the national fraternity for placement on the front of the new IHQ building in Indianapolis.

In recent years Chi chapter at Auburn and Gamma Theta at San Diego State have installed coats of arms for their impressive new chapter houses. It’s a work of art that makes a great capital campaign project and can be the ideal pièce de résistance of a renovation project or newly built chapter house.
